• However, using the Weber 426001 Q 300, it turns out to be very hard to grill anything with a marinade or baste without burning it. Most grills have 2 or 3 burners that work in specific sections of the grill. You can therefore grill with indirect heat by turning off the burner over which you place your food. Because the grill has burners that go all the way across the grill, it is very difficult to grill with an indirect heat method. The thick grill grates get and stay very hot.
• Second, although the cooking grates on the grill have a porcelain coating, it is very difficult to clean them down to the porcelain after burning either food or baste. The instructions to run the grill full blast for 10 minutes produces char that even careful cleaning only partially removes. Thus, after only 2 years of medium to light use the grates on the Weber 426001 Q 300 are a charred mess, rusty in some places, and thick with layers of char in others that leave little char bits on the food. It’s a nasty job to pick these charcoal bits off before serving the food.
• Replacement grates for the grill are hard to find.
